Description
Happy Mondays - ...Yes Please! is the band's fourth studio album. It was released on Factory Records on 20 July 1992, and was their final album on the label. The album was produced by Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz of Talking Heads.
...Yes Please! is a soul funk album, with a bleak sound that earned it a comparison to Unknown Pleasures (1979) by Joy Division. The album was recorded in the aftermath of Shaun Ryder's public battle with heroin addiction, and his lyrics on the album reflect his dark and introspective state of mind.
The album's first five songs are all considered classics, and include the singles "Stinkin' Thinkin'", "Sunshine & Love", and "Angel". The album's second half is less consistent, but still features some strong tracks, such as "Cowboy Dave".
...Yes Please! was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 14 in the UK Albums Chart. It is now considered to be one of the greatest Madchester albums of all time.
